I agree. As long as you stick to white-hat techniques, you shouldn’t need to worry about the algorithmic changes. Stick to high quality contents and natural backlinks and you should be fine.

Honestly, not even sure why Google tells us anything. It’s not like they’re going to show us all the variables in the algorithm.

Personally, I like to control what I can and not worry too much about Google. So I’ll stick to delivering quality content and let my sites grow as organically as I can.
