Scary WordPress Easter Egg

Ok, I know that real geeks have a strange sense of humor, but this was a bit too scary. I mean, the Matrix is a cool movie, but a message saying:

Initiating infinite loop eschewal protocol.
Self destruct in… 3
2
1

??

Anything to do with infinite loops or self-destructing and my computer is too scary for me.

What’s a Virtual Easter Egg?

When it comes to software, an Easter Egg is some kind of a surprise. It can be text, an image, a sound even. Anything that is not supposed to be there. It’s triggered by some action or move. The idea is for other geeks to spend time “hunting down” these eggs.

The WordPress 2.6 Egg

I came across it by accident. I had two versions of a post and the “compare versions” link was there. And I clicked it.

I didn’t make that video. Others have come across this one as well, obviously.

Anyway, figured this would be a nice post with Easter around the corner. Hopefully, I might save some fellow blogger a panic attack!

Glad to have read this as I have become allergic to these things. After having been a victim to a keylogger (which forced me to reformat my computer), I now am officially paranoid. How else would you call someone who has the task manager always on top and stares at the cpu usage bar every 30 seconds. :) I guess I’ll forgo any activities that requires opening the computer and surfing the web on Easter.
